DAY 1 EL PASO - CHIHUAHUA (D) Dinner included Early noon we enter México at Juárez (arrivals should be no later than 12:00 p.m.) and drive south through Chihuahua, the largest and one of the richest states in México. On the way to Chihuahua City you will see the Samalayuca sand dunes; it is an exotic desert area that looks like a sea of sand with dunes representing motionless waves. It covers an area of 37 thousand acres. Also, your tour guide will teach you on board the bus or van the main Spanish words or phrases that will help you tonight in your family home hosted dinner, where you will have the opportunity to interact with local people and also enjoy a taste of Mexico cuisine. Return to the hotel later tonight. Hotel Palacio del Sol or Hotel Quality Inn San Francisco. Overnight
DAY 2 CHIHUAHUA – POSADA BARRANCAS (BLD) Breakfast, lunch and dinner included After breakfast we will continue on to Posada Barrancas. Before we leave, we will start our tour, visiting Pancho Villa’s home (closed on Mondays), the Cathedral, the Spanish aqueduct, murals at the State Capitol and residential districts. On our way to Posada Barrancas, we will visit the Mennonite Community, your tour guide will explain you their customs and how they keep their traditions through the years. We will visit a Museum (closed on Sundays) and also, we will enjoy a light lunch with their traditional bread, cheese, and cookies. The arrival will be late afternoon to the Canyon. After check in, your tour guide will lead a walking tour around the hotel area, where you will be able to admire beautiful sightseeing sunset from the Canyon. Return to the hotel. DAY 3 POSADA BARRANCAS – EL FUERTE (BL) Breakfast and lunch included During this morning your tour guide will lead another walking tour but before this, you will have the opportunity to enjoy a ball and Tarahumara dance presentation. This afternoon we board the “Ferromex first class Coach” for our rail trip through the rugged terrain across Mexico’s Sierra Madre Mountains to Divisadero. The view of the three Canyons that comprise the Copper Canyon makes Divisadero (“The look out point”) an unforgettable stop on your trip across the mountains. This area is four times larger than the Grand Canyon and gives visitors many memorable vistas of the pristine mountains wilderness. Our rail trip will continue through the Copper Canyon and the Colonial Town of El Fuerte. Hotel Posada del Hidalgo. Overnight
DAY 4 EL FUERTE (B) Breakfast included This morning we will take a colonial walking tour for historical delight, we will visit the colonial church, the municipal palace, the museum, the plaza, among others. Also there is available an optional wild tour (boat tour-not included), your tour guide can help you to book it directly or you can join your tour guide in the evening to walk to the main park to interact with the locals. DAY 5 EL FUERTE – CREEL (BL) Breakfast and dinner included Board the train this morning and admire the beautiful scenery on the return trip. The train winds and bores its way through tunnels of the Tarahumara range of the western Sierra Madre. We will be arriving to Creel the gateway to the most primitive and nomadic tribe of Indians in North America; the Tarahumara Indians. Later in the afternoon, our tour guide will lead a walking tour, he will indicate you the main important points to visit, for example the regional museum, the beautiful church, handicraft stores, etc. Return to the hotel. Hotel Best Western Lodge. Overnight.
DAY 6 EL – CASAS GRANDES (BLD) Breakfast, lunch and dinner included Use your free time, this morning to purchase your last minute gifts near to the hotel. After breakfast we travel by motorcoach or van to Casas Grandes. On our way we will stop to see and sample the produce of this region at a hosted lunch in a Gourmet Restaurant located in an apple farm near the city of Guerrero. Before check in at the hotel, we will visit the brand new Museum of the Northern Cultures (closed on Mondays) and Paquime Archeology Site, where both Pueblo Indian and Mesoamerican influences are evident in the buildings, ceremonial monuments and the large ball court. Also, we will drive by the Mormon Community, and see how these people preserve their traditional and religious customs. Arrival to the hotel late afternoon. Tonight join our escort for a Farewell dinner entertainment show at a local restaurant. Hotel Hacienda. Overnight.
DAY 7 CASAS GRANDES – EL PASO (B) Breakfast included It’s time to return. You will depart at 9:00 am for the El Paso Airport. Arrive at approximately 1:30 pm. Flights should not be booked earlier then 3:00 pm.
